Editorial review:

This excellent hotel has a youthful clientele and people-watching is a good activity to participate in here. There's an outdoor garden, lounge on the roof, bars in the lobby, amazing club downstairs, and a Japanese restaurant. The rooms have been criticized for being small and unattractive. Other people liked the nautical theme of the rooms.

Verified Reviews:

  • Wifi access is free - Wonderful location in manhattan which was close to everything
  • Just near the 8th av. subway stations - Staff is helpful - Neighborhood is great for shopping
  • Bathroom is smallish with a nice shower - Food was good - Bed is comfortable
  • Surrounded by great restaurants - Staff are friendly - Gym is pretty small

Location, restaurants, design. Simply a very fun NYC experience. Also liked the parking deal at the garage - very convenient.

Loved the location. Great facilities, particularly the courtyard garden. Spotless rooms and friendly staff. Easy access to great parts of New York City, particularly art galleries and restaurants.

My room was quiet and when the drapes were closed the morning light did not wake me. I have never slept this well in nyc!

By far the best thing going for this hotel is its location.

The bar areas need updating and place need lightening up a bit.

The location was brilliant. The room was nice inside with a lovely bathroom.

I didn't like the fact that the numerous taxes and rates weren't outlined in detail at that point of booking this. When receiving the final bill the room rate increased by almost 25%. a little more detail around the nyc taxes would have helped us manage our budget more effectively. The bar in the hotel was a little confusing, out of all of the bars we went to,nowhere got funny with you if you wanted to buy a drink at the bar and sit down at a table instead of waiting for a while to get table service, but this one did. When we arrived they asked if we wanted bar or cocktail service and we said bar but then asked if we could sit outside and they pulled a face at us and said thats cocktail service, I thought they were working for tips, don't really expect to have a face pulled at me because I don't understand their protocols around ordering drinks. Also, I would have expected a free bottle of water to be offered in the rooms. Water had to be paid for out of the mini bar,

The location was the only thing good about this dive.

The hotel is old and run down. The hallways are dark and smelly. The rooms are cramped and dark and the carpets and walls are dirty.

My stay was exceptional. The staff were always helpful. My room was perfect and a wonderfully comfortable bed. The location is fantastic-I walked on the Highline early in the morning...Heavenly!

The lighting in the Lobby is dim....makes the location/hotel seem less classy than it is. I would suggest a more sparkling and illuminated arrival to the Hotel.

The staff were very helpful and friendly at all times. We especially liked the bicycle hire ($6 service charge per bike) - we had them for 2 whole days and had previously hired bikes in Manhattan before at the cost of approx $100 dollars a day for two bikes, so this was a real bargain. The Hotel had so many little extras, fridge, coffee machine (also free coffee from Italian restaurant), gym, discounted local parking, free magazines - Time Out, each day they posted the weather forecast in the lifts, free dvd and book hire, too numerous to mention. This Hotel is in a fantastic location - this is my 7th visit to Manhattan and I will stay here next time... You are directly opposite the Chelsea Market for good food/take outs, Meatpacking District across the road, Chelsea just a few blocks up - you can see the High Line from the Hotel... Brilliant!

The staff was always helpful and friendly. The location was so much calmer than staying near other parts of the city. Small, quaint , restaurants and shops nearby, sea breezes from the Hudson.

The room was not sound proof on the weekend and music from the nightclub could be heard until 2 am.

We requested 2 adjoining rooms at the time of booking and then called 3 days prior- this request was ignored. The hotel rooms face the outside bar which on a Saturday night had live, loud, pounding music until 4AM. No one in our party could sleep. We were on the 4th floor. Do not stay at this hotel if you want comfort and a room where you can actually sleep.

We enjoyed the location, close to restaurants and boutique shops. Also enjoyed the small European/boutique feel of restaurant.

We enjoyed everything. A little noisy at night, but nothing that wasn"t expected
